The experience leads to a very special end - cooking a delicious tortilla soup. Beyond the meal, the process of making it yourself becomes a chance to converse, interact and connect with other participants, while enjoying a nice, enchanting environment. I was left with the sensation of having known a bit more of my own hometown, and a warm, new and very recommendable experience for those who enjoy walking, listening and discovering a place with its own character.

What a wonderful experience! I’ve lived in Mexico City for over a decade and never knew the fascinating history of la Romita neighborhood until I participated in this walking tour hosted by Huerto Romita. And the Huerto is the perfect place to be hosting an experience like this — a place of resistance, respect, culture and context. After the walk, the sopa de tortilla was the best one I’ve had, shared around a communal table with some mezcales—what more could you ask for? I’ll be recommending this experience to all my friends and family from out of town.
